S

School Capacity

Capacity for special schools means the number of pupils for which the school is organised to make provision.

Secondary

Category: Phase of Education. Full-time education suitable to the requirements of pupils of compulsory school age who have attained the age of 10 yrs and 6 months.

SEN Codes

The SEN Provision codes describe the Statutory Types of Special Educational Needs that individual establishments have agreed with Local Schools Organisation Committees to provide. The provision of SEN is portrayed as follows:

0 = Not Applicable

1 = Primary SEN Type

2 = Secondary SEN Type

3 = Tertiary SEN Type

Where primary and secondary indicates the emphasis of the provision, not the age range of children provided for.

Sixth Form Colleges

Category: Type of Establishment. A Sixth (6th) Form College is an educational institution, eligible for the receipt of public funding through the Learning Skills Council, which deals principally with the delivery of academic provision to 16-19 year olds

Special Measures

Is where a school is judged by OFSTED to be failing, or likely to fail, to provide an acceptable standard of Education.

Statutory EAZ

For historical reference only: Statutory EAZ were a partnership of schools, private businesses and other local organisations established by the Secretary of State under the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998 to overcome local barriers to achievement and improve standards of education at each of the participating schools.
